Local arts organisation Shopfront Arts Co-Op are excited to present Q is for… Quack, a new puppetry short-film created by Marlow Lackner and mentored by Solomon Thomas and Matt Whittet.
A world where gods are unreliable, demons are petty, and mysteries are rarely solved on purpose
The premiere screening runs from June 18-21 at Shopfront Arts Co-op (86-88 Carlton Pde, Carlton)and includes behind-the-scenes puppet tours and showings; sharing the creative process and challenges of building this richly strange world.
In a smog-choked city, Benedict E. Quigley: Private Duck Detective waddles in—broke, burnt out, and on strike. What follows is a chaotic descent into a bureaucratic afterlife where nothing works, no one’s helpful, and Quigley’s detective skills are… questionable at best. Blending handcrafted puppetry with scale models and collage, Q is for… Quack is the directorial film debut of Marlow Lackner, an author, illustrator, puppet artist, and new- wave/alternative rock producer.
Q is for… Quack is presented as part of Shopfront’s Member’s Production, a 3-month residency supporting a project made by one of our members and chosen by our members aged 8-26. The project receives artistic support, an industry mentor and production team. Shopfront is the Home of Youth Arts, Sydney’s only youth-led multi arts organisation dedicated to the artistry of Young People.
