Renown comedian and Adelaide Fringe Veteran Hannah Camilleri returns with her new show Dinner Hannah Show, an all-new one women show that consists of a series of humorous vignettes and sketches featuring a host of zany characters and surprising humorous moments of breaking the fourth wall. Audience interaction and cued sound, music and lighting all feature to enhance her performance with Hannah, fresh off the sold-out success of her critically acclaimed 2025 show What I’m Going For, continues to bring her comedic stage presence to the delight of Fringe attendees.
In the intimate setting of the Chapel in The Courtyard of Curiosities, Camilleri opened her show with a mysterious flare for the dramatic and the comedic, charming audiences with her wit, quick improvisation skills and her many accents which had the audience laughing from start to finish. These two opposing forces continued to clash across her various sketches – some being clear Camilleri was still finding her feet with the new material and others where she was at the top of her game and clearly confident in her creation.
Camilleri’s audience was fully attentive not only to her clever use of stage props such as a chair and the delights of her slapstick but also to her more subtle comedic skills, engaging use of facial expressions and well-timed eye movements. Costuming, wigs and one well placed moustache brought to life her characters. Camilleri’s use of physical comedy, lighting, and expressive performance ensures her work is engaging and accessible to Deaf and Hard of Hearing audience members. This was particularly effective in her segment where she performed a stint of imaginary cooking, creating a delightful Jekyll and Hyde situation cued alongside the performance.
If you are unfamiliar with Camilleri and missed your chance to see her in Adelaide, you can catch her at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival at The Play Box at Malthouse Theatre in March. She will appear in online series Romanticm Information (Screen Aus) and has voiced characters in ABC Kids’ It’s Andrew, both set to release this year cementing her as a versatile act to follow.
