La Ronde: Acrobatics, allure, and a little bit of cheek – it’s La Ronde!
Stepping into the narrow walkway leading to the Grand Electric Theatre, hidden behind a row of terrace houses, you enter an intimate courtyard before the main theatre. Touches of red catch the eye and Prosecco flows freely.
Once inside the theatre, a giant mirror ball hangs from the ceiling, catching the light as party music fills the room. The vibe is instantly feel-good, promising a fun night out. Premium seats curve around the stage, creating an immersive experience from the very first moment.
La Ronde is a clever blend of circus, physical theatre, dance, and cabaret. It seamlessly weaves singing, comedy, burlesque, acrobatics, and aerial work into one dynamic show. The internationally diverse cast brings fresh energy to every act. A standout is the Russian aerialist, Jenny Zavadskaya, whose gymnastic feats elevate the audience’s sense of awe – it looks almost effortless. Another unforgettable performance is the hair-swing aerialist , twisting and turning mid-air, suspended solely by her hair.
The show also includes tightly choreographed dance numbers and intimate, slightly inappropriate humorous sketches, adding playful energy to the evening. While the variety keeps the audience engaged, the sound could be better; some songs come through harsh and loud.
Is La Ronde Worth Seeing in Sydney?
La Ronde is particularly enjoyable for fans of Cirque du Soleil, or Blanc de Blanc. It’s a stylish, energetic show that balances seduction, comedy, and daring stunts. It’s worth seeing for the incredible performers, creative choreography, and immersive atmosphere. While not completely groundbreaking for seasoned circus-goers, it’s a fun, playful, and seductive night out – perfect with a glass of your favourite drink in hand.
