With ridiculous anecdotes, and the ability to make any conversation funny and personal, Jess Fuchs is a comedian to watch out for in the best way possible.

Walking into the venue, I was slightly nervous to see a prompt on stage with a request that all audience members write an answer to, combined with the fact that the audience was very small. The prompt being ‘what makes you feel sexy?’. Was I walking into a show that would be **crickets** if it relied heavily on audience participation? I won’t bury the lead though, I think Jess Fuchs may be my new favorite comedian.

Fuchs has such an infectious energy, resulting in having the audience eating out of her hand from the get go. Discussing, and joking about dating as a 30 year old woman still living with her parents, I am not the target audience. This did not matter in the slightest however, as Fuchs’ comedy transcends personal experience. Despite the title, these were sex jokes for everyone. Fuchs alternates between reading audience submissions for ‘what makes them feel sexy’, and her own material. The transition between the two was effortless as well, having a conversation with the crowd that got everyone involved, while also not shoe-horning in the discussion to her written material.

Fuchs’ comedy transcends personal experience.

The written material had a strong theme of self deprecation, but Fuchs oozes with charm which invites everyone to laugh alongside her, with no hint of pity. On the other hand, her crowd-work feels like catching up with that friend you haven’t seen in a while, with so much to catch up on, but also feeling like no time has passed at all. Even with some technical difficulties to begin with, Fuchs proves she can roll with any obstacles. Towards the end of the show, when Fuchs announced she had 10 minutes left, I had to check my watch to ensure it was a one hour show and not 30 minutes – that’s how much I was enjoying myself.

Finding a new comic that hits every note is a rare treat. Fuchs is so relatable and clever, I would strongly recommend seeing her perform any opportunity you get.
