Love & Faith (and something unholy) to premiere at Qtopia

Dukes. Drag. Drama. Step back in time to discover an adaptation of John Lyly’s Gallathea, and William Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure where the classic meet cute takes a modern shape.

Acoustic Theatre Troupe takes the misguided notion that “Gay people didn’t exist” and extracts the queer joy out of two classic texts to bring a bundled production of queer fever dreams, drag shows, and classic love stories to Qtopia's Substation.

“Gay people didn’t exist.” Or at least that’s what we’ve been told. Step back to 1588 and meet Galatea and Phillida, two women who hide in the woods pretending to be boys (so they don’t get sacrificed to Neptune’s vicious monster!) It’s a classic meet cute. And they don’t need help from Cupid to fall in love, these ladies do it all on their own.

Fast-forward to 1604 and something has changed. The woods are gone, the magic repressed, a puritanical religious state has taken control. But there might be a way back to this queer utopia. And if there is, Isabella will find it.
