The Arcadians Theatre Group will Salute 25 Years at the Miner’s Lamp Theatre in Corrimal with a commemorative concert over the weekend of August 12-14.
The Arcadians Theatre Group was founded in 1964 and rehearsed and performed in a variety of locations around the Illawarra, including building their own Rehearsal Hall in Tarrawanna before purchasing the Corimal Community Hall and Library in Corrimal in 1997. Arcadians has been a fixture of the cultural environment of Wollongong’s northern suburbs ever since.
Salute will feature a cast of talented performers from the Theatre’s history and allow past and current members the opportunity to reconnect and reminisce.
President of the Arcadians Theatre Group, Steve Sanders, said: “The Arcadians have found a wonderful home in Corrimal and this 25th Anniversary Concert will showcase some of the toetapping-tunes that the Group has delighted audiences with over the years.
“Arcadians has a proud history of entertaining the Illawarra and contributing to cultural life in the region, and we have been so grateful to take to the stage in Corrimal for the past 25 years,” Mr Sanders said.
Kerrie Hartin, director of the commemorative concert said: “We are thrilled to be able to showcase the talents of some of the Group’s past and present performers, as well as representatives from Arcadians Children’s Theatre and the Lamplighters male choir.
“A much-loved former leading lady, Diane Dun will also make her long-awaited return to the Arcadians stage after relocating to Tasmania, and we are so excited to see her perform again,” Ms Hartin said.
The concert at the Miner’s Lamp Theatre will run for four performances: Friday 12 August at 8pm, Saturday 13 August at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday 14 August at 2pm. Tickets are $25 per person with an optional dinner and show package for $50 partnering with Jaffa Restaurant at Corrimal RSL.
