NEW THEATRE: COVID-19 update

Restrictions have closed the venue and impacted on rehearsals and preparations for our upcoming productions. Sadly, it’s not simply a matter of opening the doors and turning on the lights once the lockdown has ended.

Therefore, our rejigged schedule is as follows:

SYDNEY FRINGE FESTIVAL We’ll be presenting the world premieres of two new  Australian plays, THE PARK by Simon Thomson and THE CHOCOLATE ROSTER by Brooke Robinson, playing 14 September – 2 October.

Both plays came out of The Silver Gull Play Award and we’re very excited to be bringing these two outstanding new works to life, in productions to be helmed by emerging female directors Jess Davis and Emma Whiteheadhttps://newtheatre.org.au/sydney-fringe-festival-2021/

After that comes THE SPOOK by Melissa Reeves, a whimsical satire inspired by a true story of ASIO spies and regional Australia during the Cold War, which will play 12 October – 6 November, with Press Night on Wednesday 13 Octoberhttps://newtheatre.org.au/the-spook/

Finishing the year will be the Australian premiere of THE LOVELY BONES, a stage adaption by Bryony Lavery of Alice Sebold’s best-selling novel, which will play 16 November – 18 December with Press Night on Wednesday 17 Novemberhttps://newtheatre.org.au/the-lovely-bones/

We remain optimistic despite these difficult times and look forward to welcoming back audiences to New Theatre when we can once more open the doors and present top-notch theatre at affordable prices for everyone to enjoy.

Rosane McNamara (President) and Louise Fischer (Artistic Director)
